UNC Wellness Center at Northwest Cary
UNC Wellness Centers opened a new facility in Cary on July 15th, 2013. This 60,000 square foot facility offers the following amenities:
- Climbing and bouldering walls
- Outdoor artificial turf training field
- Fitness floor with state of the art equipment
- Fitlinxx (personal fitness tracking)
- Teaching kitchen and classroom
- Aquatic area with 7 lane recreation pool, whirlpool, warm water therapy pool, and sauna
- Cushioned indoor track
- Group exercise studios
- Health education programs and screenings
- Personal training
- Fitness assessments and testing
- Physical therapy services
- Nutrition services
- Massage services

Turf Field
Our 20,000 square foot astroturf field is where we hold various group fitness classes, personal training sessions, small group training classes/programs, recreational activities (like badminton), and many youth activities. This fenced-in space is for Wellness center activities and member use only.
Do you need a place to exercise outdoors or just spend some fun family time? The UNC Wellness Centers at NW Cary allow the use of the fenced-in turf field during daylight hours for exercise and play. You are welcome to bring your own exercise or sports equipment, but please be respectful and careful of others when using the turf field. Please note, that children under 13 have to be directly supervised at all times. Please check-in at the Wellness Center front desk prior to using the field and note that there will be limited space during outdoor group exercise classes. Click here for our turf field policies.
Climbing Wall
The UNC Wellness Center at NW Cary features a state-of-the-art 38-foot Rock Climbing Wall and a separate, 10-foot Bouldering Wall made by Entre-Prises. Members and guests of all ability levels (4 years of age and older) may come to climb our Rock Wall during open hours. The wall is set with routes of various levels. Waivers are mandatory for all new climbers prior to using the wall. First-time climbers will also be given a Rock Wall Orientation. Click on the pictures to the right to view and print your waiver and review our climbing wall policies.
