Julie joined UNC Wellness Centers in April 2020, during an unprecedented closure of our facilities. Join us in welcoming Julie as the newest Manager of the UNC Wellness Centers. Julie will oversee the Health Education department, which serves to educate members and the community by developing and delivering programs and services that positively impact health and well-being. The department also manages scheduling for the classrooms, teaching kitchens, and nutrition services.
Julie moved with her family from Columbus, Ohio in August 2019 to fulfill a lifelong dream to live in North Carolina. Julie has a brother in the area and family in Ohio and Florida, so they like to say they are splitting the difference. Julie graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Master’s in Exercise and Health Studies. As an undergrad, she played on the women’s soccer team. Go Redhawks! Julie worked for nearly 16 years at OhioHealth, the largest health system in Central Ohio, serving in various roles at the fitness and wellness centers and in employee wellness. She became a Certified Wellcoach® in 2012 and wholeheartedly believes in the power of coaching. Julie has been married since 2005 to husband Brian and together they are raising 10 year old identical twin girls and their 7 year old son. They also have a 1 year old orange Tabby cat (who meows like a dog) named Baker. Go Browns! When she’s not working, you’ll find Julie outside somewhere- playing with family, watching wildlife, walking, running, or biking. You might also see her tuned into country music, podcasts or a great book- especially inspirational and historical fiction and non-fiction related to spiritual growth, personal development, and the Enneagram.
