Nutrition & Weight Management

Health Education | Disease Management

Nutritional services available to members and non-members include:

Individual Nutrition Counseling: Meet with a registered dietitian for a one-on-one session to discuss your nutritional concerns. Whether you're interested in weight loss, improving a medical condition with diet, sports nutrition, or general healthy eating, we'll develop an individualized plan to help you meet your nutrition and lifestyle goals.
One hour session: $70 members, $80 for non-members
Half hour follow-up session: $35 members, $40 for non-members
Three Pack: 1 one-hour session and 2 follow-up sessions (limited to one per person): $125 for members, $140 for non-members

Resting Metabolic Rate Testing: Metabolic testing is the only accurate way to measure energy expenditure. It calculates the number of calories that an individual burns at rest in the day. Knowing your metabolic measurement can provide the information needed to develop a nutritional assessment for personalized success. The Meta Check test is $50 for members and $60 for non-members.

Web Wellness Packages: No time to see the dietitian on a regular basis? How about seeing the dietitian "virtually"? This program allows you to communicate with the dietitian on a weekly basis via e-mail. Great for those with busy lives.
Option 1: $200 for members, $300 for non-members
Option 2: $300 for members, $450 for non-members (includes software and RMR testing)

Grocery Store Tour:
Join our registered dietitian on a guided tour of the local Harris Teeter in Meadowmont Village. Learn ways to create healthy meals, read food labels, shop for healthy options, and receive handouts to complement the tour. The tour is free for members. Space is limited.

The Weigh to Wellness: The UNC Wellness Center at Meadowmont is determined to help you achieve new heights of wellness through a goal-oriented 12 week program of exercise, nutrition education, and lifestyle modification.

The program offers weekly classes covering nutrition, lifestyle modification, and exercise, followed by structured exercise with personal trainers or group fitness instructors. Each week, you’ll check in with your “accountability coach.” And with our software, you can keep a food and exercise diary to help you stay on track with your goals.

Pre- and post-testing can include waist and hip circumference measurements, height and weight, BMI, blood pressure, and resting metabolic rate test - depending on your goals. Additional tests are available.

The cost for this 12 week program is $400 for members and $600 for non-members. For a schedule and information on the next available session, please contact the front desk at 966-5500 or email wellness@unch.unc.edu.
