Aquatics

Our well-equipped aquatics area consists of a 25 yard indoor heated pool, a whirlpool, a sauna, and a warm-water therapy pool. Temperatures, cleaning, and composition of each component (air and water temperatures, humidity, chlorination, etc.), are monitored on a regular basis and managed closely. Pool and air temperatures are kept at constant levels and are set to best accommodate the needs of a variety of aquatics participants.

Typical activities accommodated in our primary pool include:

•Lap swimming (usually three lanes, minimum of one) click here for lap swimming rules
•Aqua Aerobics classes - part of our Group Exercise program
•Swim lessons for children and adults
•"Free swimming" opportunities to relax and have fun
•Master Swim workouts for adults

The warm water therapy pool is primarily utilized by the UNC Health Care Physical Therapy program, although the UNC Wellness Center does host a limited number of programs in this pool. The remainder of the aquatics area is intended to be open to our members at all times, although classes and other special events may limit use on occasion. The aquatics area always closes 15 minutes before the facility closing time.
