200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Beginning January 2018, The UNC Wellness Centers at Northwest Cary will offer its first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program accredited by Yoga Alliance. The program will run Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 5:00-9:00 pm beginning January 5 through March 25, 2018.
This Yoga teacher training is Hatha based with an emphasis on Vinyasa style. Upon completion, graduates will receive a certificate and will be able to register through Yoga Alliance at the 200 RYT level.
What does the program offer:
In this 200-hour program, you will learn all the components necessary to become an effective yoga teacher or deepen your yoga practice
When is the Program:
Starting Friday, January 5th and ending Sunday, March 25th, 2018
Classes meet Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Saturdays & Sundays: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Hassina Mirica-Albukhary, E-RYT 200 – LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Originally from France, Hassina has spent the last 13 years teaching in and around the Triangle and has accumulated over 3,000 hours of experience. She has worked in a variety of settings from small studios to corporate environments and large national clubs, where she fulfilled the roles of yoga teacher, program coach and yoga coordinator.
Combining her knowledge and initial training in Hatha Yoga and adding her love of Vinyasa, Hassina is excited to be leading the UNC Yoga Teacher Training and share her knowledge with the participants. She strives to create authentic connections with her students supporting their growth and helping them navigate the path of yoga with compassion, wisdom and strength. Her teachings and philosophy are aimed at exploring yoga with ease and a smile, in a supportive and encouraging environment, finding flexibility in the body and openness in the mind.
Beth Place, RYT 200
Beth graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Her focus on teaching, rather than just leading a class, is one of the characteristics that sets her apart from most fitness instructors. She has been teaching yoga for 14 years and has over 20 years of experience teaching fitness classes.
Beth’s teaching style encourages everyone to respect their physical limits while challenging their mental ones. She strips away yoga’s mystique and complexity, making class practical, all-inclusive and FUN! Her classes are welcoming and comfortable.
Terhi feels unbelievably grateful and privileged to be a part of people’s yoga journey. She believes that yoga should be for everyone, regardless of age or past experience. In her practice and teachings, Terhi honors the traditional yoga philosophies and ancient texts of yoga.
Neva Avery, ACSM, NSCA
Neva is originally from South Dakota and has been in North Carolina since 2002. She has a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and has been working in the fitness and wellness industry since 1997.
Many begin their yoga journey with an idea of what yoga is and Neva believes what is important to you is what matters most…even if it’s just stretching your hamstrings! Ultimately it’s YOUR yoga. With continued practice, YOUR yoga can and often evolves into something more. With her extensive knowledge in kinesiology and biomechanics, Neva teaches the anatomy & physiology modules at the UNC YTT.
