Winston Churchill once said “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail”. Being prepared in all endeavors is paramount to success.

This thought process is the same for wellness. Having a plan and being prepared each week and for each workout is key to achieving the results you want. Here are a few tips on how to better prepare yourself on a weekly basis.

  1. Plan your meals on Sunday : Shop and cook your meals or write down exactly what you’ll be eating for each meal throughout the week. This will allow you to plan for healthy, balanced meals and prevent impulsive poor choices.
  2. Have a workout plan each time you go to the gym. If you like to lift on your own, hire a personal trainer for a session and go over your goals, time constraints and questions, then have them write up a program for you to do 2-3 days per week. Go back every 4-6 weeks to “check in” and progress the program as needed. Having a prepared program each time you exercise helps to keep your workouts effective and efficient.
  3. Set aside time for leisure. Just like your workout and food regimen, make sure you set aside time to decompress, have and relax. This reduces stress and recharges your energy.
  4. Have a “Plan B”. Family emergencies happen and can throw off a carefully planned schedule.  Make sure you have an A and a B timeslot for your workout in case you can’t make it at your normal time.

These are just a few helpful tips to get you started on your journey of wellness. Planning is easy, it just takes a little time and practice. Results will quickly follow.
