Routine for Optimum Skin Health- A Daily Beauty Ritual!
Tuesday June 2, 2015
Beautiful skin is a combination of genetics, diet, exercise, sufficient sleep and a regular skincare routine that involves cleaning and moisturizing of the outer surface, the slender epidermis. The paper thin outermost layer of the epidermis is composed of dead skin cells ( the stratum corneum ) and is made of keratin which dulls easily if it is not hydrated and moisturized very regularly. When skin looks “ dewy “ it is receiving the nourishment it needs in the form of both oil and water.
Taking time to care for the delicate skin of your face, neck, front of the chest (decollete) and the backs of the hands doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. A skincare routine can turn into something delightful once you find products you really enjoy putting on your face! Beautifully scented, luxurious feeling facial oils, cremes, and hydrosols that add nutrients the skin needs make a big difference to how you feel about a daily regimen.
The very basics:
- Wash – can be an oil-based cleanser, a straight fatty oil, or even just water
- Hydrate – try spritzing with hydrosols to balance PH, or pure distilled water
- Moisturize – to seal in the hydration, put a few drops of serum in moist hands rubbed together then applied, or your favorite oil-based cream.
Facial quality oils won’t clog the pores of the skin, and will restore the condition of the epidermis that is often stripped of the natural oils when it is washed. Adding oil back in to the skin makes sense, especially as we age and produce less of it naturally. Your skin type will determine which kind of oils are best for you. Water and oil will keep your skin looking healthy and radiant!
In addition to a good daily ritual, a conditioning treatment such as the Facial Wellness Massage is the ideal way to deeply nourish the skin and boost the effectiveness of your routine care on a monthly basis. All the basics are included in the treatment, as well as a hydrating organic Honey mask, and massage to the face, hands, feet and scalp! The most relaxing facial ever!
