Happy February!  With this being the month of LOVE, I’d like to shed some light on the topic of ‘Self-love’ with recognizing that the week of February 23rd-March 1st is ‘National Eating Disorder Awareness week.  Self-love can be described as treating your body as your home, focusing on proper self-care in your mental, emotional and physical well-being.  Whether it is practicing positive affirmations through looking at your reflection in the mirror, taking a spa day to relax, choosing healthier options in the nutrition department or moving your body with strength training and cardiovascular exercise, it all relates to keeping the whole body strong, mentally, emotionally and physically.  Whether you are male or female, adult or teenager, you can make a difference in your life, or the life of someone else, by being aware of the signs of eating disorders and raising awareness to those in need, by providing the necessary resources.

“Eating Disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder include extreme emotions, attitudes and behaviors surrounding weight and food issues.  Eating disorders are serious emotional and physical problems that can have life-threatening consequences for females and males.”

The focus on National Eating Disorder Awareness week is to “prevent eating disorders and body image issues while reducing stigma surrounding eating disorders and improving access to treatment.”  To view more information about this event please follow the link:
